Welcome to the website of Coastguard Hibiscus

Coastguard Hibiscus is a voluntary rescue unit coming under the umbrella of the New Zealand Coastguard Northern Region. Our boat, Hibiscus Rescue One is an 8.5m Rayglass Protector with 2 x 150Hp Yamaha outboards. It is based at Gulf Harbour marina.

The Coastguard Hibiscus team is made up of a dedicated group of local volunteers. The boat is taken out every weekend for training, and during this time the crew is available, as usual, to be tasked to incidents by the Coastguard Operations team in Auckland. You never know what you are going to end up doing or where you will be sent out to when you turn up for a duty on the boat, the day is always full of surprises!

Want to CREW on Hibiscus Rescue One? NOW is your chance!

Are you semi-retired, have an understanding boss in the Gulf Harbour area or simply have plenty of spare time on your hands? WE ARE LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEER CREW for our rescue vessel based at Gulf Harbour. We are primarily short of crew during weekdays for callouts between 6am and 6pm (you may be out after 6pm if there is a late afternoon callout). We will consider crew for other hours also. You need to live within 20 mins maximum of Gulf Harbour, ideally have some kind of boating experience, be able-bodied and willing to learn and we will give you free training to become Coastguard Rescue Crew. Interested? Click here for further details.

Volunteers meet every Tuesday evening at 7.00pm in the Hibiscus Coast Boating Club in Stanmore Bay, to discuss the previous week's events, organise crew for the following week and discuss other operational issues.
